For Indian & South Asian grocery retail

Ring up the counter without slowing it down.

Barcode and scale checkout, CRV, offline register mode, and CDTFA-ready tax — one POS built for the way an Indian or South Asian grocery counter actually runs.

The counter you actually run

Generic POS wasn't built for your aisles.

Every POS on the market can scan a barcode. Almost none of them were built for what's actually on your shelves — loose produce sold by the pound, a CRV deposit on every bottle, thousands of imported SKUs with barcodes that don't match anything, and a line out the door every time there's a festival.

Loose produce, no PLU that fits

Okra, methi, karela — sold by the pound, searched by a name a generic POS pricebook has never heard of.

CRV bolted on, not built in

Most systems treat California's bottle deposit as a manual add-on line, not a real per-container calculation.

Barcode chaos

Imported goods arrive with foreign barcodes, duplicate barcodes, or no barcode at all — and the register has to keep up anyway.

Festival-rush lines

Diwali and Eid don't just raise sales — they raise basket size and line length at the same time, and the till has to hold up.

Spotty internet

Strip-mall internet drops. A cloud-only POS that stops selling the moment it does is a register that can't be trusted.

A register that isn't yours

The result: software built for a different kind of store, with your workarounds taped to the counter.

Built for the counter, not retrofitted

Six things every Indian grocery counter needs — built in, not bolted on.

Weighed produce, done right

Live scale capture with per-item tare, and PLU search by English and transliterated names — so a bag of methi rings in under 5 seconds.

CRV, native

California Redemption Value calculated per container, per line, automatically — not a manual tax hack.

FEFO expiry tracking

Paneer, sweets, and frozen goods are flagged first-expired-first-out, so stock moves before it turns.

Flyer & festival pricing

Time-boxed Diwali and Eid deals apply automatically at the register — no manual price changes on the floor.

Loyalty for regulars

Points on every visit, keyed to a phone number. No punch card to lose.

Multi-lane rush handling

Pair a second till with a code when the line gets long — both lanes share the same live catalog and inventory.

From first call to first sale

Three steps to a live counter.

  1. Talk to us about your store.

Tell us your SKU count, how many lanes you run, and what hardware you already have. We'll tell you exactly what you need — nothing more.

  2. We set up your catalog and tills.

Your products, barcodes, tax categories, CRV, and lanes are configured before day one — including migrating your existing catalog. See how migration works.

  3. You ring sales day one.

Cashiers are trained in under 30 minutes. The counter is live, and it keeps working through a busy Saturday or a dropped internet connection.

Works when the internet doesn't

Your lanes don't stop selling when the internet does.

KodetraPOS runs a local store node right at the counter. When your internet drops, cash sales keep ringing, weighed items keep working, and the running total stays correct. Everything queues locally and syncs to the cloud the moment you're back online — typically in under 60 seconds. No "cash only, no receipt" scramble in the middle of a Saturday rush.

Compliance, handled

Built for California's rules, not generic retail rules.

CDTFA-ready sales tax

Taxable-vs-exempt breakdown and CSV export, built for California's sales-tax reporting — not a generic US tax report.

CRV reporting

California Redemption Value tracked and reported per container, automatically, on every sale.

EBT/SNAP + eWIC

Split-tender EBT checkout is built into the software and EBT-ready — going live is pending FNS (USDA) certification through a licensed processor. Not yet available.

Tax and compliance rules vary by state and county and change often. Confirm your store's specific obligations with your CPA.

Questions store owners ask

What is KodetraPOS?

KodetraPOS is point-of-sale software built specifically for Indian and South Asian grocery stores in the United States. It handles barcode and scale checkout, CRV bottle deposits, expiry-dated inventory, promotions, and loyalty from one counter app, with a cloud back-office dashboard for the owner.

Who is KodetraPOS for?

Independent Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, and other South Asian and ethnic grocery stores in the US — the kind that sell loose produce by weight, stock thousands of imported SKUs with inconsistent barcodes, and run flyer deals around festivals like Diwali and Eid. It's built with a real Indian grocery store as a design partner, not adapted from a generic retail POS.

Does KodetraPOS work without internet?

Yes. KodetraPOS runs a local store node at the counter, so cash sales, weighed items, and inventory keep working through an internet outage. Everything queues locally and syncs to the cloud automatically once the connection returns, typically within 60 seconds of reconnecting.

Does KodetraPOS accept EBT/SNAP?

Not yet. Split-tender EBT/SNAP and eWIC checkout is built into the software and EBT-ready, but going live requires FNS (USDA) certification through a licensed EBT processor for each store — that certification has not been completed. Today, KodetraPOS accepts cash and Clover card payments.

What hardware do I need?

A Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+ computer or all-in-one terminal, a barcode scanner, an NTEP-certified scale for weighed items, an ESC/POS receipt printer, and a cash drawer. See system requirements or contact us with the hardware you already have and we'll confirm compatibility.

Does KodetraPOS take card payments?

Yes, through a Clover terminal at the counter — EMV chip and contactless tap. Card data is handled by Clover's certified terminal; it never touches your till or our servers.

How much does KodetraPOS cost?

Pricing depends on your store's size, number of lanes, and hardware. Contact us and we'll work out a plan for your store.

Can I bring over my existing catalog from another POS?

Today we do white-glove catalog migration — send us your product export and we import, clean up, and tax-classify it for you before you go live. A self-serve CSV import wizard is coming so you'll be able to do this yourself in the future.

Does KodetraPOS support more than one store?

Yes. One account can run multiple outlets on a shared catalog and pricing, with per-store overrides for tax jurisdiction and local pricing, and owner/manager roles across every location.

How do updates work?

The desktop app updates itself. Signed releases install automatically in the background — no manual reinstall at the till, and no update mid-shift.
